Hi Tien, is interesting, do you used two mcu because not have a lot of pins?
Did you think to use port A and E to drive LCD or to use a pcf8574p to drive LCD serially with i2c?

I'm pretty sure the second micro is to control the display only - although it's meant to check only certain chips (your typical TTL 74xxx) - IE check the code out a bit

a tester for digital I.C for complete range is publish early 90's in elektor based on 8051 series of processor i will search it in my backup and share it here

Without an A/D and D/A on each pin, this is pretty useless for anything but a cursory screen for DOA parts.

You could have gotten half of that test functionality by remapping the pins to the analog pin ports...
