Avatars are useful and I want to see them - most are nice and somehow reflect personality. But shit happens and one day I found that inadequate picture with obscene ambiguity annoys me. PM appeal is not a solution.

There is an option in Look and Layout Preferences that turns off a displaying of all avatars. There is an option to ignore PM from certain user. I miss an option to ignore specific avatar. Is it possible? Any advices and opinions are welcome.

you could start a topic and see what others think, if there is any that are covered by the rules of good taste, then maybe a warning to remove/or change them, is in order.

You could always report any such Avatars, maybe there is an option Sonsivri can enable/disable.

He doesn't like my avatar.  I think it's fun.

If the owners/moderators of the forum think it's not acceptable then that is their choice and I'll certainly comply.

Like I asked Signal over PM,  Who has more right, the right to express or the right not to see what you don't want to see.

I agree avatars are often childish. I have them turned off so this site is much less juvenile than it would be with the avatars.

heheh thanks optikon.  Again the ultimate goal isn't to piss people off but to be lighthearted, funny and provocatively expressive.

Gallymimu - your avatar is awesome - humorous without being too offensive. I don't think you did it to pizz people off like another member did. *And* it looks like she has excellent technique.

I think avatar express a bit of personality of thir owners.
You can like or dislike them, but I think they are to be respected anyway, as should people who choose them.

Thank you guys for representative off-topic! :) It is not a surprise that here are plenty of us who enjoy the last Gallymimu's favourite and even ready to discuss her price. That is why I did not ask moderators to search for appropriate rule to press the playful member.

Your taste is not a proof that my experience is wrong. We are just different. Your remarks demonstrate that it is not realistic to expect an understanding in such environment - a technical solution is much more reliable. Certain solution is present but not the perfect.

EDIT: the opinion about the picture was deleted as off-topic.

I removed the avatar per moderator request.  -1 for freedom of expression, oh well.  I don't agree, but I certainly respect the power that be who run the forum.

If you use adblock you can block all avatars by adding this filter manually...  Options - Customize -Edit, don't forget to SAVE!

www.sonsivri.to##IMG[class="avatar"]

If you want to block just a single avatar

www.sonsivri.to##IMG[class="avatar"][src="http://www.sonsivri.to/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;attach=12345;type=avatar"]

Where the actual 12345 number is obtained by right clicking the avatar in question...

You can also use the automated block ad feature, by clicking block an ad on this page and selecting the avatar, the next screen will give three check boxes, if you check the first two all avatars will be blocked, if you check all three boxes just the one will be blocked...

Hey that's pretty cool.  I assume that would work with just about any set of images from any site right?

Adblock is limited, but yeah you can us it to block images on any site easily...

If you really want to have fun you need to use something like the Greasemonkey addon, you can completely change a site to your liking, change colors, change format, change font, move things around pretty much anything as long as you can write the appropriate javascript...

Can Adblock insert random offensive images onto people's postings when I view Sonsivri?

The shock when logging into the site in the morning would be better than coffee

Seriously, with all that is wrong in this world, seems like a pointless waste of time and energy calling for the censoring of someone's Avatar if it is not prohibited by the rules of the site.
