Hello
I need to do a control application.Like some 10 digital inputs, a pair of analog inputs and 12 outputs. The tasks to do in the controller side are not complex which seems I can do in a 8 bit MCU.

But the tough task for me is that, I need to implement this with color LCD and touch screen, both I am new to!

How should I plan? I am comfortable in PIC18 and  'C'.

Is this can be done using any PIC18 board with Touchscreen and LCD library available?
Or should I go for some PIC32 board with those options available.

Which platform I should start looking in? I need to start on a development board and later for production either I can use the same thing or make my own.(This product is not going to make in 1000s of pieces.). So reasonably prized hardware is not a problem for my production.

But building the entire system from scratch is not practical for me.(That much time or expertise is not available with me!)

Thanks. Please suggest.

I used a PIC18F4580 and a glcd module from ThaiEasy.com

similar application, I have a touchscreen keypad, and can display temperature setpoints, and actuals for a temperature controller.
the soft keypad is obviously use for setpoint inputs etc.

http://www.thaieasyelec.net/index.php/Display-Module/Breakout-Board/Breakout-Board-2-8-inch-QVGA-TFT-LCD-with-Touch-Screen/p_3.html

its $53 plus shipping

It took a while to port the graphics to the PIC18, but it works fine.

also you could look at  www.techtoys.com.hk, they have a good range of sizes

Thanks for the post. I am going through them.

So it can be done with a PIC18 controller.

Regarding the size:-

My application cannot expect the use of a stylus by the operators.

So what will be the minimum LCD and touch panel size to be used so that users can use their fingers to select menu and press buttons?

Thanks.

no, i dont use a stylus. the buttons are a 3x5 keypad, each button is 9x7mm
attached is an image, not bad for a 2.8" diagonal display

wasn't it a different user who posted the links to the LCD suppliers though?
