ICD Problem finally solved on CCS 4.084

Hi everyone,

Since CCS 4.084 is out, everybody has problems on using ICD in CCS editor. It gives "Can't connect to ICD" error, so we had to use the stand alone version of ICD software.

But now, you can download newly released (on 26/02/2009) "Beta CCS Programmer Control Software" from their web site (you can click the link below) and install the software. So you will be able to use ICD in your 4.084 version Compiler.

Don't forget to update your Debugger firmware from this new programmer control software (New firmware version is 2.52 for ICD-U40)

And also don't forget to give me a "Thank You" click

Actually, you can also find this firmware inside of "Beta CCS Programmer Control Software". (I did my firmware update from it)
When you download the new program and finish the setup, run the program and select "USER" menu. You can see the firmware update button at middle of the window.

OK, man thank's! But, have some else problem?! My ICD-U40 is not original, but with same shematic and v1.39 onself identity - and work!
I transform image-firmware files (*.fw) in hex - of course i delete useless lines. I open it with WinPic800 - v1.39 begin in address 0x0000, and v2.52
on adres 0x0100 ! May be somebody know and explain to me?!

hi,

i tried also when the ccsload was published first time, but for me it was realy instable. I manage to read and to write some chips, but i conclude that is realy a beta version and i swap back to the older icd.
I think that the problem is just with the older ICDU unit, i have a clone S40 version, with 1.39 firmware.
And the firmware upgrade is also a problem. Up to the 1.39 is possible to edit the hex file, but i din't manage to get a solution to upgrade to the 2.. version
I hope that somebody finally will do that. best wishes

...especially last sentence: "Units with N=1 cannot upgrade to version 2 firmware automatically. The unit must be sent back to CCS for this kind of update".

It is probably Version of your Debugger...
