Sohel good idea. If you use an SMPS as you said, does it basically work the same as an MPPT ?
No, a conventional SMPS does not provide MPPT function though it may be possible to modify it to do that.
BTW, some years ago, I needed to power some sensors from a high voltage supply (a solar array with max open circuit voltage around 300V) and used an off the shelf SMPS power supply to the provide the desired 12V to run the sensors/transmitter. I was able to run the power supply directly from the solar array as the 240VAC rated power supply could accept at least 340VDC (Vpp of 240VAC).
