Hi Guys,

Microchipdirect.com has a 30% discount on Pickit4 to the end of the month. Code: TP1984

Sorry, but Pickit2 remains priceless, so no discount code there  Tongue

Given that they've added debugging for 'atmel' stuff too (experimental for now) I've made an order. At least this discount is covering the shipping cost (it's shipped from UK in my case).

Nice - and I was just about to click 'pay' when I checked RS...

...and it's cheaper there for the UK at £33.08 including VAT and delivery.

With the discount it's £38.23 from Microchip. £5 dearer than RS!

I wonder if RS have messed up again there... get it while it's hot - I have!

Magnox, you are lucky. In my case, on RS the price is 45.55EUR (VAT included) + whatever shipping costs may be. Microchip direct was better for me.

I'm kind of irritated Microhip stopped supporting their REAL ICE product.

https://www.microchip.com/Developmenttools/ProductDetails/DV244005

I recall the ICD3 couldn't monitor global structures which could be done REAL ICE.  (I added the structure to the watch window and it just doesn't show up).   Anyone know if this has changed in the ICD4?

I got a bit spoiled after one of my clients brought me a Lauterbach TRACE32 emulator to replace an unreliable Nohau 8051 emulator.  That thing was great.  Using a special emulation version of the 8051 chip, I could see and record everything in its trace buffer without disturbing execution.  It also communicated over ethernet and was the most reliable emulation/debug tool I've used.  But, I haven't used it in many years since they started charging large annual maintenance fees and I haven't used an 8051 in new design in years.
