I'm working on new product and want to include network connectivity via LTE as an option, but am new to LTE beyond using my cell phone.   We would only be sending GPS coordinates and a small amount of data so want to use a low cost implementation that is reasonably power efficient.  The current plan is to use an STM32 or cypress variant (CY8C/PSoc6) for the microcontroller so prefer an LTE modem that is easy to interface to with having to deal with PCI express.  I would appreciate any suggestions.

Hi

Hardware design is straightforward (look at the hardware data sheet from manufacture) but do remember that most LTE modem use different power mostly in the range of 3.8V

For software you will need to implement AT command protocol - you will find lot of code on the net some good some not

You don't have to have permanent IP address for your modem (it cost more) so start wit the lowest cost plan and use lowest bandwidth modem like the CAT-M1 with up to s 400 Kbit

Hope it help

All the best
