Tek osciloscope hack

It sounds strange that here nobody talk about Tek scope hack. There are these nice tools that allows to enable options and bandwith upgrade on the tek scope. The 3k and 4k series are both hackable. Several differents exploits has been used. Most of them are based on the reverse engineering of the scope firmware, several others try to copy the content of the eeprom memory inside the options key.

Anyone here have try this mods on their scope ?

what model do you have ? For some model there are a mod firmware that enable all the options.

Tektronix hacks have been around for a few years. There's been mention of it all around the web, including well-known places like eevblog forum (that's probably where you'd find the most talk about it today), hackaday (who was hit with a DMCA takedown) and even slashdot. It's not a hugely popular scope though (because of cost: an entry-level MDO3012, 2ch 100MHz starts at $3500USD and the cheapest passive probe starts at $300), so you probably won't find anyone around here who's tried it. The most common hackable scope would be the Rigol DS1054 so you'd find tons of that talk one obviously. As for the Keysight, the 1000X has a BW hack at least.

I can confirm that on MDO3xxx oscilloscope the key generators works!
