Just got a serial JDM Programmer on ebay and can't figure out how to get picbasic pro to communicate with it through microcode studio. Any ideas? I tried to add it under compiler options but then it asks me for executable name. No idea what to add. Thanks for any insights.

You can simply use IC-Prog with your .hex generated by PBP and JDM http://www.ic-prog.com/if you can't see links - try google for IC-Prog

I understand that I could use IC Prog, but I would like to see if I could cut down a step and program through picbasic. But I appreciate your help.

View Compile and Program Options Programmer
Select Add New Programmer Select Create a custom programmer entry
Follow on Screen directions and your programmer will be used by MCS.

For laptop that doesn't have any serial port, we can use USB to serial converter. or you can try to make one. try to visit this website :http://www.recursion.jp/avrcdc/

for laptop u cannot use usb to serial converter , jdm programmer takes its power from the serial port it needs as much as 12 volt for mclr pin. u can not get this much voltage through usb to serial converters.
