Hi to all,

I'm interested in a microcontrolled system that it can send SMS messages and/or Video images to a GSM mobilphone (alarm or domotic application).

I'm lost and I need any suggestions to begin.

Thanks guys,

Hi!
I guess You are trying to control the traffic between the two phones.
I'm working on a project where I try to govern a model plane with a GSM onboard and a PCMCIA-phone in my laptop. I simply turn the onboard phone before take-off and steer it with the laptop using DTMF tones which the onboard PIC can handle very well via the servos.
I've recently finished a similar project where the PIC auto-stabilize a helicopter so it can hover without any fuzz...
I used Proton DS with Proton plus 2.2 and a K150 programmer from Kits 'r us. It has a major flaw - it can easily be damaged if You don't separate the programmer from target circuit when it is powered. I will try to modify the ICSP lines by inserting 4 pcs. of 1N4148 diodes between the two.
Another flaw with the Proton DS is the lack of debugging capabilities. Some years ago I bought Microchip's MPLAB ICD2. The problem is that it only can step through the assembly code, not my high-level language. I solved it by attaching a Max232 cicuit so I can use my own debug variables. The MAX 232 circuit only requires two lines from the PIC(Tx and Rx)

Hope that this info. gives You some new ideas
Cheers

So If You Want Just To Send Sms Through Pic Just Use "at Commands" Which Can Be Send As Serial Data From Pic....

And If U Want To Use "dtmf" Then U Should Use Any Tone Decoder Ic Like "mt8870 " With Pic......

Thanks Robban and Rego,

I should be more precise. I'm a little idea as to use a GSM modem to dial and send SMS messages but I wish more.

My idea is to have 1 to 4 TV cameras conected to a hub and through a microcontroller to control the hub (you know, to switch among the four cameras, probably move them, etc.) and the possibility to send the video trough the GSM module to a mobile phone.

Which are my troubles?:

1.- A GSM modem can transmit video and/or images?
2.- What kind of mobile phones can receive video and/or images? (My current mobile cand receive images Sad)
3.- Are there different bands for mobile phones according with the capacity to receive video? (I've seen some figures as 900/1800 MHz but I don't know what's that)

As you see, I need you tell me some links to begin to learn.

Thanks,
