best router ?

I am going to buy a new router but I don't know which one is the best
I am thinking about one of those : SpeedTouch, 3Com, TPlink, Thomson, D-link
my friend told me that Thomson is a new better choice so I am asking about ur idea too???

I am using DIR-655 from D-LINK since 2007.
It is stable and the wireless part works perfect.

the problem that this machine will work 24/24 without being restarted
so if the router hangs a lot
it will be a problem

I had a speedtouch, had to reset every 30 minutes. It was a horrible nightmare, then got a linksys switch which was ok but eventually died, im now using a netgear which hangs maybe once a month at the most. Its a pretty good router. Something like a 'ultimate wireless router' its called, can't quite remember!

If you like tweaking with your router,
I warmly suggest you the ASUS WL-500gp (if possible the release 1 (not sold anymore), instead of the V2 version): you will find LOTS of documentation/firmware/...
I "upgraded" its internal RAM to 128MB (original 32MB), so I can run flawlessly eMule or Bittorrent clients without requiring my PC turned on 24/24.
By the way, attached to it there is also an HDD to save the received data...

P.S. Please remember that you will need an external ADSL modem (this one is a ROUTER, not an ADSL/Router).
