For Real Time Clock I also recommend PCF8583 with more RAM (240 byte), programmable alarm, timer and interrupt function. These will help you much in power saving applications (interrupt will wake up microcontroller).
I also attached its datasheet below Smiley

Hello! nice thing.
Wouldn't it be better if you make a full PCB with battery for DS1307.
You know a full "RTC-Testboard" or something ?
