Hi dear, I always bought the original MAX7912 from Maxim, a very expensive component, in China I found the component MAX7219ECW (I think clones) from HLF (Shenzhen honglifa Electronics Co.,Ltd), hlf-ic, sold by weight, really cheap, are they valid?

The company in question makes discrete component logic, cmos, ttl and so on, but on their site I cannot found MAX7219.

Hi

As you suggested "sold by weight" buy few or order some PCB with LED and do some test - whether it work as published - you win whether it is a bad clone or counterfeit components - you loose few $ and learn a lesson.....

All the best

Hi,

I have been using MAX7219ECW in my project for about 1 year and it is no problem for now. Its price is 0,36 USD in electronic markets in Turkey.
