Old school for angle sensor: wirewound precision pot with pendulum, for boom length sensor: precision multiturn pot, geared, located in boom lenght sensor, actuated with steel wire, constant force spring return. I used to maintain SWL systems made by EKCO instruments, UK. At the end of the 70's, beginning of 80's, it was fully analog system based on opamps 741 and 709 Nowdays, I would use a modern aproach, as hosmis suggested.

Whichever hardware you are going to use, keep in mind that max SWL is defined as 75% of max load for any given configuration of the crane. Do consult the load charts.

@snowman Links that you provided are UNRELIABLE if used as any kind of sensor. Stepper may be used as substitute for an rotary encoder to enter parameters/configuration. For anything else, on a dangerous machine, it's a no no. On such kind of machinery, cheap, amateurish approach is leading do potential disaster, damage, injury, loss of life.
You know, if you make a thing that is idiot-proof, life will quickly produce a better idiot.

Stabilizing camer is one pair of boots, boom on a load lifting crane another pair. If it is a mobile crane, ie on kind of truck chasis, I would suggest to OP to consider installing another sensor on the chasis to sense the level of chasis, which should be horizontal. Some max SWL points on the load charts are given for crane tipping points (boom fully out, low boom angle). On some cranes boom could be at slightly negative angle, ie below horizon.

Again, camera boom is one pair of boots. It holds camera and gimbal. Other pair of boots is a load lifting crane. No fixed ~200kg at the end of boom I've been maintaining, servicing and calibrating SLI equipment on mobile cranes for years. So, angle sensors should be apsolute ones, as in CSA series inclinometers. Boom length sensor geared precision multotirn wirewound potentiometer. Load sensing could be done in various ways. Pressure transducers coupled in hydraulic system of derrick cylinder(s), load pins, ...

at least Frisky was active, he just looks like Mute is lifted, it was replaced by Ban, they don't show.
I looked at ZASto and posts and, being a member here 9 years, the standard of postings was shite, he has other posts I was going to add here. but hey, better just press the Mute button, I had to spray switch cleaner first.
