Each visit, unread new messages  link clicked from my favorites. Unfortunately a few section has tons of messages which I don't interest this section.

Is it  possible to install a forum mod, which provide this new feature:

Users can select the topic as "permanently ignored " or "permanently marked as read" ?

Option is there called Notify, select what you want to monitor, like your intrest is Proteus & PSD updates.
I don't think any posts should be 'permanently ignored', But then you may miss posts that are under wrong topic Tongue
but most in here have permanently ignored reading rules.

By "ignored section", I think you are primarily referring to invitation requests, but are too chicken to say it blatantly because you know how well that one would wash.

I think, since we're suggesting things, a failure to invite someone every three months should be grounds for a warning. We all begged to join at some point or another and forcing people to read requests once in a while will get us more members, hopefully better quality ones.  There have been a few times where I was out of credits and a ringer requested..my hands were tied. Did you see that one?

I think it also goes against the spirit of sharing when you ignore people in a section that need something you have, including knowledge.  Playing in one corner of the sandbox by yourself is what I think you are asking for,

So, I'd say let's not do what you're suggesting. The more eyes on a request, or problem statement, the better IMO.

Looking at it from another POV.......

How you read into the OP that the user wants to ignore invitation requests I do not know?

For possibly the same reason as the OP I never use the "new posts" link.

It is also not about not sharing or ignoring others. Many users only ever visit certain sections of the site so saying that
they are playing in a sandbox in the corner is wrong. there should be no forcing people to visit every area of the forum - everybody specialises in their own areas and only have interests in particular sections of the forums.

I do not want nor never will see what new posts are in the RTOS, AVR, Pic, AI, & Greetings sub forums to name a few.
So I too would like to be able to NOT include those forums in any new posts list. I may even use the link and see even more
posts than by just visiting specific forums through not using the new posts link.

Adding the ability to exclude certain sections simply gives those members that specialise in certain areas the ability to use the forum to its fullest in the way that suits them best rather than being forced to see all the posts that they have no interest in.
For those that wish to see ALL posts like above then you simply leave all forums included in the search.

This is not something new, this ability I have seen on other forums in the past. ISTR that they were vbulletin forums.
Also ISTR that certain forums can be excluded from the ability to exclude by admin.

Another thing to consider is the load on the servers, I suspect that search times would be reduced as the search is looking in less forums.

hello .. again posting where I should not ... but can not find how to create a new topic or project ...
I read forum rules which seems very logical, but not how to open a new topic or project, if I can do because I am inactive; I do not think so, because I read it, but I have a system in manufacturing lED lamps, which performed with aluminum oxide .. alumina, and want to share in case anyone is interested, is to have a whole house powered with 30-35 volts to power outages, and have your own Lightings ... not if I submit the issue to moderators for approval .. I'm a bit lost ... thanks and sorry.
