Hello everyone,

I have a pickit2 programmer. I have been using it to program my 16f877a, 16f628a and 18f4550... A few weeks ago, I bought an dsPIC30f2010 to start working with dsPIC series. But, the programmer doesn't see the chip. I updated firmware and software of the programmer but it is not working although there isn't a problem with other chips. Is there any common issue i don't know?

Thanks.

Pic is on compatibility list, most likely defective chip or incorrect wiring.

I have decided to buy a different dsPIC chip. I couldn't see any problem and I am really bored with it.

I assume that the chosen dsPIC is in compatibility list of PICkit2. Then most likely you can use PICkit2 to program this chip from a standalone programmer application only, not from MPLAB. That was a decision of Microchip - a limited support of obsolete PICkit2 from MPLAB - even if PICkit2 is able to program new chip an MPLAB is not taught to use it for new parts. I'm too lazy to search for proof links now - it is just from my memory.

P. S. I think that the title of this topic is worth to ignore it. Looks like "Do not push" button.

Did you connect the PGC and PGD to the right pins? The 30F family does not use the same portb.7 and portb.6 as the pic16/18's. See datasheet -portf.2 and portf.3 on the dspic30f2010. Sorry if this seems obvious
