Very Wise (and grouchy) Old Man

« on: January 22, 2013, 03:04:21 03:04 »

So far I have used my invitation credit and invited some members.
To tell the truth, this system left me feeling very much unfulfilled or even to a point upset.

Many of the invitees could not even be bothered to actually respond to the invitation that they "beg" for.  Angry

Why do I bother reading their request if they do not even bother reading my invitation?
Goddamit, I got more things to do than buggerising around with them slackers.

I get the feeling that a fair number are looking for one thing, find it here, throw in a request, then keep looking. If they find it elsewhere, they don't come back. This is probably also true of the ones who were in and did not participate actively, got "spring cleaned", then wanted to come back for more leeching only to find out their access was denied.

It'd be nice if we could pull our own invites back, and get the credit back to use on someone more worthy. Would save the mods some work and would also fix your piss poor attitude  Grin

You know I'm J.K. Parmin...sort of  Tongue

It is frustrating as heck though to spend the time and have a credit wasted on someone you thought would be good for everyone. And it really does take time to do.

I remember my invite ended up in the hotmail spam folder. I do not know how common this problem is with other E-mail services. It could perhaps be in place with a warning about this.

I never apologize for my attitude, I am a grouchy old man after all.

But that does not make excuse for the slackers that wrote an epic poem about how they are going to share or kiss -ass, yet never follow up even with the invitation..

"guest" is too polite, IMO.

It implies that we need to ask them to take off their shoes and we'll feed them wine, cheese, and crackers. We do have whines, cheesiness, and crackers here in the cupboard...

Can you set up an additional "slacker" tag instead, just for them?

Would be fun to have them in there for a month or so before banishing them to guesthood

first strike is to warn, then Mute. as a muted user, your back to when your requesting to see links and hidden boards, plus you can't post.
The time spent in both these states, can range from hours, until you buy me a beer, in person. (which most likely never)

Wasted invitations can be restored. If I code the feature of course. If it's a problem for you guys, why not? I didn't think it before as I am having infinite credits. 4 days timeout to accept invitation or it will be deleted and credit will be given to owner back.

I will also include "mind the junk folder" notice in to the system.
