Guys for forgot something, this topic is 2 years old. There are lots of things have changed since then. We served cracking contest but couple guys could join to SCG. This is no "how to crack" forum, you can join if you are talented.

Is there any chance to add me to the group... have done some small simple cracking of ebooks password using ollydebug and bypassed some time limits based on registry and files written on system...

Main idea is to learn about FlexLM its very huge and need some one to mentor me...

The SCG as it was known is at this time not active, there are a few that work independent.
There are some that have the skill to patch the well known programs, most people visit forum for

Thanks for the information.  That's to bad though.  I find cracking and reverse engineering fun (usually I do it to relax).  It's better though with a group to bounce ideas around. 

On a related note, I tended to code keygens and patches in python.  I do this for three reasons.  First because kinda hard for a text file(s) to be infected with something, second so that people can learn about how things were done to improve their own knowledge/skills, and third so I can ssh into one of my linux servers to run the keygen and not have to worry about getting it copied over.  Is there a language preference here for cracks/keygens?  If the preference here is for C# for example, I'll do that for what I release here.

the coding language is up to you, indeed. Myself I use delphi, othres use pure assembly, some people use C++. Avoid .NET when distributing keygens :- )

Thanks.  Wanted to make sure there wasn't a forum standard language.  I've never released a keygen in .net, so no worries   The closest I ever came to that was a few .net based crackme's for some people.  I tend to avoid .net when coding anything in favor of something more stable; but it all depends on the project though and who's going to be using it.

Only thing  to add is try to make any keygen or patcher AV friendly, when one triggers any AV software, we get loads of Virus/Trojan reports.

I my self have not done much of hard cracking except some small ebook password fishing using olydebug. But would love to learn new tricks...

@pipegrepless: Would it be possible to share some info on how to use the python to crack few sample applications... I am interested in few software that are used in automotive industry which are hard to find and use it for learning new things... the job market is very though and need to keep updating skills where recruiters keep looking for different tools name rather than basic aptitude and engineering skills

I have uploaded files/patches for others who did not want it posting in their name.

I would like to see part of the SCG board open again, maybe a new board, or old board with old posts being deled, there are still a few members that have access to that part of the board, The last post in that board was in 2011, I PM'd a few of the Users last year to see if it was worth asking Sonsivri to open it to new members,
the response was not what I expected, most of the new crackers wanted to go their own way.

I see it as a meeting point, to share tools, how to say unpack a file, and to test keygens & patches before release.

Also we don't want to take ownership of any work, you can use your own nick, or the SCG tag.

@electrojit:  It depends on the version of python it was compiled with.  2.7 and below are easy to turn back into source using uncompyle2 or another similar tool.  Python also has very friendly byte code.  You can turn any compiled python file into human readable byte code easily.  From there you can manually turn that into source code.  If you want, send me the app your talking about and what you want to do and I can take a look.

@pickit2: I'd love to see the board opened for that purpose initially.  Possibly a place to post the source for the keygens, patches, etc. as well so other can learn.  I would suggest that people would either need to post keygens/cracks/etc or doing a special crackle before access to this board is granted.  That way it can be kept to a focused audience.  The keygens/cracks/etc. that come out this board and are ready for general release could then be posted in the normal places here.

Unlike you, I can't boast of my great knowledge.
My problem is that I started “cracking” more than 30 years ago and spent most of my time with MONS and GENS on the ZX Spectrum.
Later I “worked” in DOS programs with Turbo Debugger so I had a very hard time switching to Windows applications.
I spent a lot of time in Olly Debugger.
Of the "famous" programs for which I made the keygen was BOSH ESItronic until the appearance of version 2.0
I also wrote a calculator for the Blaupunkt car radio as well as for the Ford M series.
I also have programs that I have solved halfway (I can use them but with a slightly bigger problem)

  As for my cracking abilities, I can write:
"Too old to Crack, Too Young to Die!"

My biggest problem is my poor knowledge of English, so most of what I write is using Google Translator.

By the way, I also wanted to ask you for advice about a program.
In any case, thank you for taking the time to respond to my post.
