IAR Embedded Workbench and Windows 8 compatibility?

Has anyone got IAR working under windows 8?
Using a few keygens the license is accepted in license manager but get "no license found error" from the linker after doing a make.
I tried it in "administrator account" mode still no luck. Perhaps IAR doesnt yet support windows 8?

you may have to use a pre-release version of windows 8, & set classic veiw.
I gave up on windows 8 until m$ bring back classic view as an option.

Thanks for the suggestion. If no joy after my next attempt I will try it.
Next I am going to try installing EWARM on vanilla windows 7 x64, then "upgrade" to windows 8 and see if the app still works. I will report my findings. I have tried running in windows 7 compatibility mode ( the IDE ) but perhaps the linker DLL is not running in that mode....
Otherwise will have to run as a virtual machine!

In the release Notes file of your version, does is mention that Windows 8 is supported? If not, why do you waste time? Use Vmachine and that's it.

Of course you are correct,
but I was interested to see if its the Keygen or the APP. As the App runs fine its either their licensing code or the Keygen.
As the Keygen needs administrator priveleges ( even in windows 7 ) and windows 8 has by design fewer priveleges even for the "Administrator" I was trying figure what else. But for now its just a learning experience ans no way yet would I run windows 8 for normal use for all the usual reasons.

I am downloading windows 8 at the moment, I could not resist it, I have to admit you got me infected! What really infected me was not the IAR issue, rather it was the interface and I wanted to see what happens after i apply the registry tweek that disables Metro, if you have 8 installed, try it:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer change RPEnabled to 0. Try to activate it, but first look at IARID, I mean you need to run IARID utility under administrator rights as well. I will try it out and report what results I get. May be this is something to do with the both, who knows.

Thanks. I will also look at the ID with windows 7, then upgrade to windows 8 and see if the ID has remained the same. I know the disk serial number forms part of the ID, not sure what else. Upgrading without a format should retain that anyway.

Please share your results!  I have staved off my urge to install 8 so far.  I'm afraid it will break only the IMPORTANT dev tools.

OK I have played around and here is what I found. Firstly, even using windows 7 I was unable get valid license during a "make"using any k..gen if I installed 6.309 EWB first ( admin rights or not ).

What I did find, was if I used the k..gen on 6.105 EWB, it worked windows 7 and windows 8.

If U install older one, then later "install new instance" the newer one runs OK. I not keys are stored in both programdata directory AND in the HKLM/Local Machine registry. ( make sure if using x64 look in the WOWx32_64 branch first ).

Also windows 8 upgrade assistant has no problems with IAR.
