USB to parallel
«

Hello:
I bought a USB-to-parallel DB25F converter, just to command an old project who was operating on standard parallel port. when I plug it in my laptop, I don't have a new port added in "Ports (COM & LPT)" of device manager, I just have a new "USB printing support" in the "Universal Serial Bus controllers". Also, no new port added in printers ports. So could this converter be used to control an external hardware and how?
In fact, I intended to command it by C++ using "inpout32.dll"
Thanks
Gabriel

nothing of these documents is related with my question, the first refer to a Single-chip USB On-The-Go controller (without a parallel interface), the second to many usb ics , one of them support both serial and parallel, but again without any word of how to command it by C
thanks

Hi, gabriel. This isn't real parallel port, this is only usb printer support you can't control thru inpout32.dll. May be you can control thru usb stack but you can't control single line on parallel port.
Best Regards.

hello guys,
i try using that usb - parallel cable once to used again my old parallel interface project on a laptop,
and it didn't work, petarp is right, it's only a printer support, and i used different method of interfacing
instead, usb - serial converter cable interfaced on PIC16F877 as a multiplexer circuit...
regards...
